STUDIO

Studio ORA is a multi-disciplinary design practice driven by the relationships and connections we form with objects and our environments.

Exploring themes of pace, temporality and permanence, we endeavour to encourage a sense of slowness and appreciation of the present moment through the use of material, form, light and surface.

Working across residential, multi-residential, commercial and hospitality projects, Studio ORA aims to design outcomes that cause people to delight in interaction with their surroundings as a way of creating a sensory experience.

This ethos is reflected in the studio’s name ‘ORA’, which in Italian means ‘of the present moment’ and also alludes phonetically to the word ‘aura’; the atmosphere or quality surrounding a place.

Inspired by their clients rather than by trends, Studio ORAs signature style involves a richness of texture and layering of materiality to create beautiful spaces that feel contemporary with a strong underlying sense of personality and soul.

APPROACH

After working in some of Melbourne’s leading design and architecture practices, Studio ORA was founded to further pursue a passion for highly emotive, human-centred design.

This approach puts people at the centre of the design process. It means that time is spent getting to know you and the detailed ins and outs of your project so that designs manifest in a way that have been informed specifically by you and your needs, rather than by trends or assumptions.

Studio ORA takes immense pride in this approach that champions empathy, deep listening and communication, and believes it is the foundation for the most successful of design outcomes.

PEOPLE

Interior Designer

Coming from a family of makers, creativity has always been an inherent part of Dijana’s life.

She initially gained an Advanced Diploma in Gold and Silversmithing and worked as a contemporary jeweller before sidestepping into a Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) degree at RMIT University. This path has led to her having a design approach heavily influenced by fine detail and ideas surrounding adornment.

Dijana draws inspiration from nature, geometry, colour and texture and endeavours to create environments that shift how people interact with their surroundings as a way of actuating connection.

Outside of the office Dijana loves art, nurturing her indoor plant collection and discovering the world through the eyes of her delightfully curious son.
